I am pleased that Chris has put an amusing spin on all the Big Data Hype out there. The growth of data has indeed been tremendous over the past 10-20 years and many new approaches have been developed to integrate structured & unstructured data together to create more of a holistic view of The Customer, Emerging Opportunities and Systemic Risks. Let's focus on the solution to the problem and not the means utilized.

Now a banker

Back when I started in the computer industry, one of the leaders in RAID technology told me: "Computers come and go. Data just accumulates". That was about 25 years ago. Today we can call them "devices" and who knows what the next wave will look like. Good thing data doesn't have a huge physical space requirement.
