My family are totally in love with the new marketing campaign in the UK for Compare the Market, a comparasite that allows you to compare insurances, loans, mortgages and other financial products across a broad range of providers.
They recently launched these TV ads:
The ads are really fun and use a cute, furry animal to get the point across - that's bound to work.
The humour is spot on too as Aleksandr, the Russian Meerkat who stars in the ad, runs a website called Compare the Meerkat, where you can compare Meerkats with each other.
Aleksandr is very annoyed that everyone keeps coming to his website thinking that it's Compare the Market. It's nothing to do with comparing insurance and other financial products, it's about comparing Meerkats. Totally different!
The website is part of a co-ordinated campaign and is fully integrated across Facebook and Twitter, as well as the TV ads.
A rare example of a financial marketing campaign that gets today's world.
Simples (or not)!
